Month 9 Review

Posted on 15-May-202415-May-2024 By Kate

Only a baby post to wrap up April, probably because I was only home for 10 nights of the whole thing – this girl’s been making tracks! My time in Australia is going faster than ever, and here I am trying to soak up every single second.

“I haven’t been everywhere, but it’s on the list”

New Words

  • I heard someone call gravel “blue metal” and I still don’t quite get it…
  • It’s not a tire, it’s a tyre.
  • The spotlights on my rented ute were called spotties when I was being instructed how to use them. I quite like that one!
  • Sunshine Coast is also known as Sunny Coast.
  • I had a realization: the only place you can get drip coffee (AKA batch brew) is on an airplane.

Adventures

I kicked off April in New South Wales while on my East Coast trip (Part 1 here). Then, continued through to Sydney, Sunshine Coast, Rainbow Beach, K’gari, Noosa, Brisbane, and Byron Bay. I arrived home April 16, had my start to term 2 at work, then was back at the airport on the 23rd, this time headed to Perth. More on all that soon!

I tried a new food this month: rocky road. It’s effectively marshmallows, coconut, and I think peanuts mixed in chocolate then allowed to cool into a bar which is sliced. Sometimes it’s made with raspberry marshmallows. It was pretty tasty! Though I am a sucker for anything with marshmallows. Like s’mores. Why does this country not have graham crackers??

And that’s about it for the month! May is flying by, each day being filled with work, sport, friends, trips to regional Victoria, or working on all kinds of paperwork.

See you soon,

Kate
