The Top End: Odds and ends

Posted on 23-October-202323-October-2023 By Kate

You didn’t think that was it, did you?? Here is some bonus content for you from my trip:

My “to google” list:

  • Types of kangaroos near Darwin
  • Wallaby vs wallaroo vs kangaroo
  • Does Australia have mushrooms
  • How many kinds of bats are in Manitoba
  • Why are so many Aussie cars diesel
  • Why are they called brumbies
  • What breeds of cattle are predominantly farmed in the NT
  • Where do farmers in the NT sell their animals
  • Are there special rail safety precautions for extreme heat
  • Compression braking
  • What is pie face
  • Sun rise sun set calendar Darwin
  • The amazing race Katherine river
  • 2001 cane toad invasion
  • What’s a wattle tree
  • Metal framing residential construction australia
  • Where does Australia get electricity
  • If a diesel engine’s cylinder isn’t firing does that mean it’s a physical issue with the cylinder or piston itself?
  • Why are some houses built on stilts but not all
  • Does the rail system shut down during the wet season
  • Skydive territory
  • What is bitumen
  • What happens if the queen termite dies

Random thoughts I had:

  • Thought I saw something cool. It was just a rock. Or a termite mound.
  • Black pants may have not been my brightest move.
  • Man, I need Lauren’s wildlife spotting skills.
  • I hope I brought enough sunscreen.
  • I feel like I’m riding in a grain truck.
  • You can pretty much substitute “mate” for “bud”
  • I’m in one of the most amazing places in the country and I’m thinking about outcomes based assessment??
  • Bushman’s doesn’t smell?!
  • I think I dropped my debit card.
  • I need to book a haircut.
  • Oh my goodness was it only this morning we watched the sunrise?
